CFDA Awards 2022: Best Dressed on the Red Carpet

Last night at Casa Cipriani in New York City, fashion’s leading forces gathered for the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s (CFDA) annual award ceremony. This star-studded event celebrated this past year’s most influential in fashion, honoring designers, stylists, and industry icons across the board. Amongst those named winners in a variety of categories are Emily Bode Aujla of Bode for American Menswear Designer of the Year, Virgil Abloh for Board of Trustee’s Award, and Law Roach for Stylist of the Year.

A glamorous night for celebrating fashion icons calls for a red carpet to follow suit. I’ve gathered my favorite looks by this year’s event attendees.

Cheers to such a transformative year for fashion!

Elegance was the leading sentiment throughout last night’s carpet. Anok Yai, styled by Carlos Nazario, stunned in vintage Gucci.

Khloe attended in a perfectly draped LaQuan Smith gown—one of my favorites of this Kardashian’s looks this year. The unique cut and bronze coloring of the dress are stunning compliments for her.

Cassie gave us this gorgeous understated maximalism moment in Annakiki. I will always be a fan of an edgy variation of the classic pant suit silhouette.

Following her jaw-dropping look at LACMA’s Art and Film Gala just this past Sunday night, Addison Rae turned heads once again in vintage Gareth Pugh. Hoods also had a moment last night, featured in quite a few carpet looks.

In addition to hoods, gloves were also a popular choice for attendees last night. Olivia Culpo did it best in this Et Ochs glamorous take on denim.

Give me monochromatic embellished with feathers and I’m sold. Rawdah Mohamed is a vision in peach elegance.

I love this leather coordination between Evan Mock and Rhuigi Villaseñor. The two are wearing Rhude, Rhuigi’s luxury streetwear brand.

Deconstruction is at the forefront of everyone’s style guide right now. Richie Shazam in Luar is the perfect intersection of today’s streetwear and a classic edge.

Kylie just never disappoints. This Mugler gown has a stunning silhouette with a detailed bodice to die for. Also, a moment for this hair—too good!

Open back, diamonds, and gloves—an ode to Old Hollywood. Daphne Groeneveld came dripping down the carpet in a Tom Ford for Gucci gown paired with Reza diamonds. This is show stopping look, styled by Anatolli.

Nominee for American Womenswear Designer of the Year, LaQuan Smith is the epitome of style in a three-piece suit by his own design. Between the fitted tailoring, wide leg pant, and mixed metal accessories, this is by far my favorite menswear look on last night’s carpet.

Another designer taking the carpet by monochrome storm, I love Vera Wang’s edgy variety of the black mini dress.

From social media to the carpet, Wisdom Kaye always impresses. This eclectically teal Dries Van Noten suit is styled by Wisdom with an Etro button down, Gucci tie, and YSL boot.

Designer Prabal Gurung dressed sharply in a vintage three-piece YSL suit. Colored aviators were the menswear moment of the night, but it was Gurung’s Tasaki diamonds that turned heads in this look.
